Self-love is one of the most important characteristics to have, but one of the hardest to come by. Almost every person walking this earth at this moment wants to change at least one thing about themselves, they feel insufficient because others have told them so. They may want to change something physically or who they are on the inside. Do not get me wrong…change can be good sometimes, but when we are changing ourselves hoping to fit into this mold of perfection through the world’s standards we will always fall short. Loving ourselves and our perfectly perfect imperfections is an arduous task at times, but once we realize that we are so much more than others say we are, we have conquered the world.
When you do not possess the self-love you are entitled to, you can find yourself always falling short of absurd standards you have set for yourself. You workout two hours a day, six days a week, but you still cannot seem to make those love handles melt away. No matter how many face masks and pimple creams you apply religiously you always seem to have a new pimple popping up. No matter how much you try to act a certain way to fit in with your friends, your quirks seem to slip through the cracks of your visage . You are taking measures to change yourself because you are unhappy with the person you are. The first step to mending your broken ways is to realize that you are uniquely you, and no one can take that away from you. No one can be you and no one can change who you are…only you can. Once you have the realization that you are a valuable, perfect, and beautiful person you too will begin to love yourself, you will not workout to change the things you hate, but you will workout because you want what is best for your body. You no longer will try to change who you are because you have had the epiphany that you are sufficient. You will sing along to your music in your car in broad daylight without a care in the world…no fears of who is watching or what they possibly may be thinking. Once you possess the self-love you so deserve, you will begin to realize that you are powerful. You have the power to control who you are and who you will become. No one else can dictate where you will go and what you will do or how to feel about yourself. Remember you are you, and no one can take that away from you.
